Vanda Orchid Care
Vandas are not like most other epiphytic
orchids due to the fact that they only have one stem growing out of
a tuft of roots and they don’t have pseudobulbs. It is not uncommon
to see a thick fleshy root growing out of the stem which then hangs
down outside of the container in which the Vanda is growing.
Recommended Vandas include V. cristata, V. sanderana and V. teres.
Light and Temperature
Vandas require bright light which has been filtered through light
curtains or blinds. During the winter months try and provide your
Vanda orchid with additional artificial light. Normal room
temperatures are sufficient for this orchid and to ensure the right
amount of humidity, stand it’s pot on a try of moistened pebbles and
spray with water daily.
Water and Feeding
Make sure your Vanda has plenty of water and doesn’t dry out.
However you should never let the pot stand in water. Feed you vanda
with liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength with every other
watering.
