What is the difference
between Fair Trade and Fairtrade and Fairly Traded?
Fair trade started life back in the 1940s
and 50s to develop trade with Third World countries when religious
organisations sold their handicrafts via World Shops. Fairly
traded goods have come a long way since then when in the 1980s labelling
came into play.
Fairtrade

The logo on the right is the official logo
of Fairtrade which you will find on products that are officially fairly
traded. The producers go under strict regulations to make sure
that their workers are well paid and looked after. Only products
with this logo can be called "fairtrade". At the moment they only
cover products that are "commodities" such as coffee, wine, tea, plus
flowers and footballs. Other products (including Jewellery) are
covered by IFAT
Fair Trade and Fairly Traded
"Fair
Trade" and "Fairly Traded" describe products which apply fair trade
principles to their businesses. The most well-known would be
Oxfam's Tradecraft and
IFAT. At the moment Paradise is
not registered with IFAT because they require 2 years accounts - which
we don't have yet.
